Dlala Thukzin returns with *MAYVIS*, a 12-track Afro House album released on 28 November 2025. The project is built around the Durban artist’s name and sound, but it is far from a solo showcase: across the tracklist, Thukzin brings together a wide group of South African vocalists, producers and collaborators.
The album opens with “Mayvis (Intro),” setting up a project that moves through a series of collaborative cuts rather than following a traditional singer-songwriter format. Sykes and Jnr SA appear on “Asilali”, while “Mahlalela” expands the cast with Funky Qla, Zee Nxumalo, MK Productions and JayJayy.
That collaborative approach remains central throughout *MAYVIS*. Funky Qla is one of the album’s most consistent voices, appearing on “Mahlalela”, “Indaba”, “Mali 2.0”, “Smoothie”, “Ubuhle” and “Washa”. Sykes returns on “Indaba” and “Mina Nawe”, while MK Productions features on “Mahlalela”, “Ungenzani” and “Moja”. The result is a project with a broad vocal and production network, while remaining anchored by Thukzin’s role as its primary artist.
The tracklist also brings together artists from different corners of the contemporary South African scene. Nkosazana Daughter and ilovelethu join Funky Qla on “Ubuhle”; Goldmax appears on “Washa”; and Assiye Bongzin and Naitor close the album on “Drums”. Other contributors include Thukuthela, Blaq Seed, Aya Mnisi, Uncool MC, Dankie Boi and Zeh McGeba.
At 12 tracks, *MAYVIS* is substantial without being unwieldy. Its sequencing moves from the introductory title track into a run of feature-led songs, making the album feel like a curated meeting point for Thukzin’s collaborators. Rather than presenting a single guest-heavy moment, it distributes those partnerships across the full project.
For listeners following Afro House and the current South African dance music landscape, *MAYVIS* is worth noting for the scale of its collaboration list and its clear focus on ensemble energy. It is an album led by Dlala Thukzin, but shaped by a large supporting cast—one that gives the project its defining character.
